Unforgettable Anniversary

Friday was our 12th anniversary. It has been a wonderful 12 years! I love my sweet husband more now than I did 12 years ago, more than I ever thought I could, but in a few more years I know I'll love him even more than that. I love that love is like that! Always more than it was before... if only bank accounts were as secure as love!

Anyway, on to the days events...

It was Friday, a busy Friday...

We did dishes and laundry in the morning.
Pie had piano lessons in the late morning.
Right after that Roo had "meet your teacher" at the elementary school.
We ran to do some errands straight after the school meet and greet.
We came home a bit late and were trying to get lunch, naps and some chores in before our evening at my husband's work party, followed by a sleepover for Pie at her Babu's.

That is when IT happened.

I had fed my cute kiddos lunch and I was wanting a little bit more to eat... I remembered we had made some of the most amazing bruschetta and I wanted some of that. I pulled out the loaf of baguette bread i had bought a few days earlier.... it seemed a little hard, but then I thought, hey, no need to toast it!... I was slicing it and it seemed really hard to cut, so I put a little more effort into the next pass and went right over my finger!!!! OH NO!

Needless to say, I was in a bit of a scramble to get a sitter immediately! After a number of phone calls, they headed to one of the neighbors for a while.

I drove myself to the Instacare thinking I bet this is not going to need stitches. I am sure they will look at it and say you could just put a good bandage on it and it would be fine.

No, they said I pretty much cut the tip of my finger off! GREAT!

I then came home, picked up the kids from the neighbors and got everyone ready for the party. It was really nice because my finger was still quite numb. And it was a great party, too. We lasted at the party until about 7:30 that night and then had to call it quits on account of the numbness wearing off and extreme pain kicking in.

My sweet husband got the kids ready for bed and Pie ready for the sleepover. I sat back and took a few pain killers... not the most romantic anniversary. However, my first time getting stitches will be very memorable... and I will always be able to remember when I got my last tetanus shot, too! Double bonus!

UGH that is NO FUN! ouchie! And its a reminder you just don't get a break, right? Even for a hurt finger! And you have to be really strong even though you just want to freak out and make it all go away somehow.

I hope things heal quickly and that you guys get to enjoy your Anniversary sometime soon!
